Ants are a year-round issue in Thornlands, but they are at their busiest in the warmer months and right after heavy rain. Storms flood nests in lawns and garden beds, and colonies move to drier ground, which is often inside your kitchen, bathroom or wall cavities. You will notice trails along skirting boards, window frames, power points and pet bowls.
The crew we book starts by finding where the ants are coming from rather than only treating the trail you can see. Outside, that means checking lawns, paving joints, garden beds, tree bases and the edges of the slab. Inside, baits are placed along active trails so worker ants carry them back to the nest and share them with the rest of the colony. This is slower than a spray but reaches ants you never see.
- Ant trails in kitchens, pantries and bathrooms
- Nests under pavers, driveways and garden edges
- Ants in power points and wall cavities
- Mounds in lawns and play areas
- A treatment band around the outside of the home
Before the visit, avoid spraying the trails with household sprays, since this can split the colony and spread the problem to more rooms. Wiping trails with soapy water is fine. After the visit, you may see ants for a few days while the bait works through the nest. Keeping food sealed and benches clean makes the baits more attractive than anything else in the kitchen.
Newer estates around Thornlands often have fresh mulch and irrigated gardens close to the walls, which ants love, so pulling mulch back helps. You get the price before the visit. To book ant control, call 07 3543 7768 and we will arrange a local crew.
