Cockroaches are one of the most common reasons people in Thornlands pick up the phone, especially after a stretch of hot, humid weather. There are two main types you will see. Small German cockroaches breed indoors, usually in kitchens around the fridge, dishwasher and stove. Larger outdoor cockroaches live in drains, garden beds and roof spaces, then wander inside at night.

Before the visit, clear the benches, empty the cupboard under the sink and pull out the bottom shelf of the pantry if you can. Avoid using surface sprays right before the crew comes, since they can push cockroaches away from baits and slow things down. Afterwards you may see more cockroaches for a few days as they come out to feed, which is normal. Keeping food sealed and wiping crumbs each night helps the baits do their job.
